well, if i can’t get myself to write about my own work, i may as well tell you about some fantastic performers that recently came through town.

rhinestone. gorilla. burlesque. oh, yes.

an ny-based group of ladies that totally speak my language. hot, funny, clever, provocative, intelligent… i could go on.

I nearly peed my pants with joy when I first saw them, Tuesday night, at Seduction Feroce. Avian Rush did an act where she came out as G.I. Joe and transformed into a naked, awkwardly-walking Barbie. Angelique A’lamode squeeled with starstruck 13 year old joy behind a ‘i <3 the fab four’ poster at a concert, peeling off wholesome layers of clothing to get the attention of the heartthrobs on stage. Gemma Stone busted onto the stage in thigh high tube socks and a leotard and did an amazing pantomime of a succession of creative sexual positions (complete with a range of facial expressions conveying everything from enthusiasm to confusion to boredom) to sweet 90s pump-up jams. It was an amazing show, hosted by the charismatic and lovely Lucida Sans, producer/ringleader of the crew. I won the dating game of the evening and took the crew to Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe. glorious evening.

i saw them again at red hots on Friday. took an awesome class on storytelling with Lucida (that’s a whole other post), and then stayed for the show. Debra Dolorean did a great Blair Witch act, Avian took flight with a gorgeous fan act that glowed under blacklight, and Gemma just broke my heart with joy in her tribute to T.S. Eliot’s ‘The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock’. Holy hell.

and then i showed them the glories of indian pizza. thank you Zante’s, for making all the dreams come true.

these ladies are touring the country right now, (or maybe they’re back by the time this post actually gets published). tell your friends to go see them!

Also! i’ll have the honor of performing with them ***in NY*** when i’m out there for work on July 14th!!! Stoked!
